Giving up?

Hi there,

I'm a 36 yr old female who has been ttc for around 10 years.

I've had all manor of tests done and the docs have found no reason for my infertility.

I've had 5 rounds of clomid with no success either.

I am married to a wonderful guy who already has children by a previous relationship and so my pct have refused me ivf treatment on the nhs and we cannot afford to pay for private treatment.

I am at the stage where I'm wondering if I should give up trying - the heartache that comes every month with my period is almost too much to bear.

Is there anything I can do???

    Good afternoon,

Thank you very much for your question.

It is normal that after all these years without success you are starting
to feel a little desperate. It seems all your test results are normal and your
partner already has children, so the cause of infertility in your case remains unknown
but this does not mean you don’t still have the chance to conceive naturally.

However, after 10 years and 5 unsuccessful treatments with Clomid, the
next step would be to start a treatment with gonadotropins to stimulate your
ovaries for an IUI or an IVF cycle.

You are still young, so you there is still time to find a solution and the
    prognosis is good.

We understand assisted reproductive treatments tend to be costly but,
before becoming despondent or giving up, you should consult the prices in
various different centres and even in other countries as prices vary.

    I hope this helps.

    With best regards,
    Dra. Clara
